High Park
Most conversations about Toronto biking trails begin in High Park, and for a very good reason. Toronto’s largest public green space gives cycling enthusiasts much to boast about.
At 161 hectares, High Park offers so many little trails and paths to explore. Walking is beautiful, but cycling allows you to see even more! Paved trails loop around to enable you to enjoy uninterrupted bike rides through spectacular scenery.
One word of caution: some routes have a few uphill inclines. It presents more of a challenge for a true-blue cycling aficionado. Alternatively, it could be the perfect opportunity to test out a new e-bike.
At every turn, you and your friends or family members will be mesmerized by majestic greenery and colourful blooms. Come during that magical time in late April to early May, and the sight of thousands of cherry blossoms will take your breath away. Ample cycling opportunities are only one thing to love about High Park. Of course, we’d be remiss if we didn’t also mention its tennis courts or its on-site zoo.

West Humber River Recreational Trail
As beautiful and stunning as High Park may be, its hills and inclines can be too much for a beginning cyclist. So if you prefer an easier adventure that is also pretty and scenic, look no further than the West Humber River Recreational Trail.
At nearly 19 kilometres in length, this is ideal for peaceful bike rides. It’s green, well-maintained, and fairly easy to navigate. That said, the appeal of this path isn’t just in its flat terrain. Just think of the views that await you as you pedal effortlessly along the Humber River, from charming bridges to a variety of wildlife. You’ll occasionally need to share the trail with hikers, joggers and dog walkers. Fortunately, there’s plenty of space for all.
West Toronto Railpath
Ever since its grand opening in 2008, the West Toronto Railpath has become a favourite natural hotspot among local residents and visitors. This vast green space runs from the Junction all the way to downtown.
It follows an abandoned rail line, so there are no cars to contend with, making it both safe and scenic for hikers and cyclists alike. The public art on this route, which includes colourful murals and unique sculptures, is also worth checking out. As a bonus, you’ll find three bike-share locations along the way—so you can even ride with friends who don’t have their own wheels.

Great Lakes Waterfront Trail
The Great Lakes Waterfront Trail spans an incredible 3600 kilometres, connecting 155 communities. In the West End, we love the stretch that runs from Etobicoke all the way to Royal York to Park Lawn.
You’ll encounter some breathtaking views along the path, and again as you wind through quiet residential streets and traverse along vibrant Lake Shore Blvd. Seamless asphalt makes for a smooth ride—just be careful when you’re biking along the busier stretches. Many people in Toronto love taking in the views of the Great Lakes Waterfront Trail and we want to make sure everyone is safe.

Martin Goodman Trail
If you, like most people, love the waterfront, you’ll quickly see why the Martin Goodman Trail is one of the most beloved Toronto bike paths. With it’s 22-kilometre stretch along the city’s lakeshore, it’s nothing short of stunning.
The West Toronto leg of the trail spans from Marilyn Bell Park to Coronation Park. This is where some of the most beautiful sections are found. Eventually, you’ll find the iconic white pedestrian bridge that leads to Humber Bay Park. There are multiple West End access points to the trail, including from Sir Casimir Gzowski and High Park.
We could talk all day about the many beautiful areas and bike trails in Toronto that you can explore. You can discover your own favourite destinations by going to the city website to view one of the Toronto Cycling Maps.
