4 West End Events You Have To Check Out This Summer

When summer hits, Toronto families head outside. Warm weather and sunshine make this the perfect time to switch up your weekend routine, and one of the best ways to do that is with an outdoor festival or event. While there’s no shortage of kid-friendly options across the city, some of the best activities are taking place right here in the west end. So round up the kids and grab your sunscreen, because it’s time for some serious fun!

Here are four events you should check out in Toronto’s west end this summer (and every summer, in fact. Our favourite festivities fortunately happen every year!)

1) End of Summer Family Bash

The Sidorova Inwood Team can’t wait to meet you! We love getting out and involved in the communities where we work, which is why we created our first ever End of Summer Family Bash. With a bouncy castle, a magician, ice cream truck, and a slew of fun games, this is the event of the season for the families of Toronto’s West End! Let’s not forget the slime station, a chance for young ones to get their fill of fun with ooze and goo.

Plenty of refreshments and non-stop entertainment mean your Saturday afternoon will be anything but boring! This year’s event takes place on Saturday, August 24 between 2:00 p.m and 4:00 p.m at the Runnymede Presbyterian Church.

2) Roncesvalles Polish Festival

North America’s largest Polish Festival is coming soon to Roncesvalles, one of our favourite West End neighbourhoods! Get ready to feast on delicious pierogi and other fantastic Polish treats. There will be something to please everyone’s tastes since up to 40 local bars, restaurants, cafes, and bistros are participating. Catch us there for another year – bringing you SuperDogs!

Four stages, 20 buskers, and as many as 90 vendors will also be there to ensure your entertainment and retail needs are met. If that’s not enough excitement, you and your loved ones can also whirl and twirl at the family fun zone, where you’ll find wild and thrilling amusement rides.

Food, art, music, and community are what the Roncesvalles Polish Festival is all about. In 2024, the festivities will take place along Roncesvalles Avenue on September 14 – 15.

3) Free Yoga in High Park

High Park is by far one of the best places for families to spend a summer day in Toronto. From its extensive nature trails to its top-notch recreational facilities, the city’s largest green space never disappoints. Now there’s one more reason to visit on a sunny day. Moms and dads looking to de-stress (and get some gentle exercise in the great outdoors) will want to check out High Park’s free yoga sessions.

Until early October, certified instructors will be ready to teach every Thursday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Whether you make it a family outing or find a sitter, you’ll want to catch at least a few of these wonderful sessions.

Admission is free, but you are welcome to support your community by way of a donation. Grab your meditation mat and a bottle of water because a new sense of peacefulness and tranquility await you at Toronto’s epic High Park!

4) Through the Garden Gate: Swansea

Though Swansea is stunning any time of year, its spectacular gardens really come to life during Through the Garden Gate tour. This is the largest tour of private gardens in Toronto, and it takes place early each summer.

This is your chance to get a close view of some of the most beautiful residential gardens, not just in the West End, but in the entire city of Toronto! Hop/on hop/off buses are available to help you get around and ensure you don’t miss out on any opportunity. Select gardens will also feature live music, and master gardeners are waiting at each station to answer your bloom related questions.

In between sight seeing, you can always stop for refreshments in one of the fantastic neighbourhood eateries, as well as some amazing West End shops and boutiques. This is the perfect event for anyone who loves nature, and all proceeds support the Toronto Botanical Gardens, one of our city’s top landmarks.
