George Brown College – Parkdale Childcare Centre

Found at 78 Seaforth Avenue, the Parkdale Childcare Centre is located within the Parkdale Junior and Senior Public School building and is owned and operated by George Brown College.

While this west end daycare technically serves as a model lab for students of the George Brown School of Early Childhood program to practice their work as educators in a classroom setting, the Parkdale Childcare Centre is also in partnership with the Toronto District School Board. This means it follows the TDSB’s program guidelines for preschool to school-age children.

Shirley Street Junior YMCA

The Shirley Street Junior YMCA can be found on its namesake street in Toronto’s west end at 38 Shirley Street, near Dundas Street West and Lansdowne Avenue.

The Shirley Street Junior YMCA welcomes children from the ages of 1.5 to 12 years old for Child Care programs (up to four years old) and Before & After School programs (four to 12 years old). With access to both outdoor and indoor activity spaces, this west end daycare focuses on implementing play experiences that develop foundational skills in young children.

The Dovercourt Child Care Centre is a west end branch of Toronto’s Macaulay Child Development Centres, a charitable organization that provides children and their families with programs and services that foster development and growth.

The Dovercourt Child Care Centre is located at 228 Bartlett Avenue in the city’s west end, and caters to young children of various ages through toddler, pre-school, kindergarten, and school-age daycare programs.

Jardin Infantil Childcare Centre and Summer Camp

Conveniently located along Bloor Street West right around the corner from High Park, the Jardin Infantil Childcare Centre is a multilingual west end daycare that offers both year-round and summer camp programs. The Jardin Infantil Childcare Centre is based within the facilities of the Redeemer Lutheran Church at 1691 Bloor Street West.

Their research-based philosophy to early childhood learning starts with understanding that young children have a natural capacity to absorb a wide range of information once a specific area of their brains is stimulated.
